Patanjali Ayurved: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Wednesday defended Patanjali Ayurved and said that the FMCG company is not involved in any kind of false propaganda. Yoga guru Ramdev in Haridwar and Acharya Balkrishna, managing director of Patanjali Ayurveda, said that since yesterday a news is going viral on various media sites that the Supreme Court has reprimanded Patanjali. He said that if we are liars then file a case of Rs 1000 against us. We are even ready for death penalty. He said that the Supreme Court said that if you do wrong publicity then a fine will be imposed. We respect the Supreme Court. But those people are not doing anything wrong. Some doctors have formed a group, which continuously propagates against Yoga, Ayurveda etc.

He said that if those people are liars then impose a fine of Rs 1000 crore on us and they are even ready for death penalty, but if they are not wrong then if they are punished then they are spreading false propaganda. For the last 5 years, propaganda is being run targeting Ramdev and Patanjali.

Supreme Court had reprimanded Patanjali

The Supreme Court yesterday asked Patanjali Ayurveda not to publish misleading claims and advertisements against modern systems of medicine. The court had warned of imposing a fine of Rs 1 crore on each product for doing so.

A bench of Justices Ahsanuddin Amanullah and Prashant Kumar Mishra, while hearing the petition of the Indian Medical Association, orally said, “All such false and misleading advertisements of Patanjali Ayurved have to be stopped immediately.”

Earlier on August 23, 2022, the Supreme Court had commented on the allegation of Ramdev running a defamation campaign against the vaccination campaign and modern medicines. On the petition of IMA, a notice was issued by the Union Health Ministry and AYUSH Ministry and Patanjali Ayurveda Limited.

Supreme Court was angry at Baba Ramdev's criticism

Then the court had strongly criticized Ramdev for criticizing allopathy and allopathic doctors. A bench headed by then CJI NV Ramana, who has since retired, had come under criticism.

He had said, “What happened to this Guru Swami Ramdev Baba?…After all we respect him because he popularized Yoga. We all go for it. But, they should not criticize other systems. You see the type of ads that accuse all doctors of being like they're murderers or something. Advertisements have been given on a large scale.”
