Why is Bakrid celebrated?

Eid-al-Adha is also known as the 'Festival of Sacrifice'. In Islam, this festival is celebrated to show respect to Ibrahim. Following Allah's orders, Ibrahim agreed to sacrifice his son Ismail. However, before this happened, Allah had sent a lamb to be sacrificed. For this reason this festival is known as Bakrid.
