World Cup 2023 / BCCI's disgrace in the very first match of the World Cup, hopes shattered

ODI WC 2023: ICC World Cup 2023 has started. The first match is being played today at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Earlier the preparation was that some programs would be organized on the match day, after which the match would start, but later it was changed. A day before the match i.e. on 4th October, the captains of all the ten teams reached Ahmedabad, there interviews were conducted and photo session also took place. However, whatever happened on the match day was not expected. Due to this, BCCI is being tarnished in a way.

Spectators did not reach Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as expected

Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the largest cricket stadium in the world. There is seating arrangement for more than 1.25 lakh people here. It was expected that there would be a huge crowd in the first match of the World Cup and a good number of people would come to watch the match. But when the match started, the spectators were absent. At first it seemed that it was still afternoon and as the match progressed, the number of spectators would also increase, but by the evening it looked something like this. Thousands of seats were lying vacant and even when the players were performing well, there were not enough spectators to applaud and encourage them. However, earlier news had come that 30 to 40 thousand women spectators would be given free tickets in Ahmedabad. But she too was nowhere to be seen during the match.

Jay Shah, BCCI Secretary responsible for ICC CWC 2023 could not even make sure that even 50% of the stadium in his home state is filled in the opener of one of the biggest tournaments hosted by India.

Why the spectators did not come, this is a big question

This is the first match of the World Cup and it was expected that a large number of spectators would come to watch the first match. There were also reports of fighting over tickets. However, it cannot be said with certainty whether the purchase and sale of tickets has been done wrongly or there is something else wrong. But overall, so much has happened that BCCI got humiliated in the very first match. Questions are also being raised on social media as to how this happened in the end. Now it remains to be seen how many spectators reach the stadium to watch the matches in the upcoming matches.

Bcci cant even fill 50% of the seats.
