World Cup 2023: Good news has come for the England cricket team before the ODI World Cup. Ben Stokes, who played a key role in making England the world champion in ODIs for the first time in 2019, is set to return in 50 overs. Stokes had retired from ODIs in July last year but now he is ready to return after changing his decision of retirement. For this, Stokes is also ready to sacrifice next year's IPL. A few days ago there was news that England's ODI team captain Jos Buttler would talk to Stokes about playing in the ODI World Cup and would ask him to withdraw his retirement. The Telegraph has given information about this.

Ben Stokes had retired from ODI cricket last year and was captaining the team in Tests but now he is ready to return to ODIs. England hoped that he could return for the World Cup. According to the report of Telegraph, if Butler talks to Stokes and asks him to play the ODI World Cup, then Stokes can return. It is believed that Butler will call them soon.

Will not play IPL

Stokes has a knee problem and in view of this he was resting in ODIs. His knee may need surgery anytime. Telegraph has told in its report that if he needs to give a gap in the schedule, then he can rest in the IPL next year. Stokes was joined by Chennai Super Kings in IPL but he did not play many matches in IPL this year too.

Will play as a batsman

Stokes can bat in the middle order in the England ODI team. There is doubt about his bowling and hence England will choose him as a specialist batsman. Stokes was voted player of the match in the final of the 2019 World Cup. Last year, when England won the T20 World Cup title by defeating Pakistan in Melbourne, he was also elected player of the match. England's batting will definitely be strengthened with the arrival of Stokes, as well as his leadership will also be useful for the team. Stokes has so far played 105 ODIs for England and scored 2924 runs at an average of 38.99, including three centuries and 21 half-centuries.
