Patna: Days after dozens of people died in two Bihar districts after consuming illicit liquor, the Bihar police have indulged in an unusual crackdown against the liquor mafia.

Recently, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued strict instructions to launch a crackdown against the liquor mafia and then the police started raiding wedding parties and ceremonies and even barging into the room of a bride.

The conditions are such that cops are raiding wedding functions claiming they had tip-offs for illicit liquor. One such incident has been reported from Patna. The video of the police raid in Ram Krishna Nagar has gone viral, according to a report in Aajtak online.

In the video, the policemen could be seen barging into the bride's room while searching for alleged liquor. During the raid, the police were not accompanied by any woman cop.

Such a behaviour by policemen has also caused concern among the guests and upset many.

Ramkrishna Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, Digha Police have conducted several raids at wedding functions looking for illicit liquor.

Meanwhile, former chief minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi has attacked Bihar CM Nitish Kumar over the controversial police raids.

She tweeted saying, "The Bihar Police is barging into the bride's room and searching clothes in the name of searching for liquor. Instead of locating teh source of liquor, the government is harassing women."

Meanwhile, CM Nitish Kumar has supported such raids saying people should not worry if they haven't committed any wrong.

At least twenty-six people have died after consumption of suspected spurious liquor in Gopalganj and West Champaran district of Bihar earlier this month. While 10 people succumbed in Gopalganj, 16 died in West Champaran district.
