Bihar Road Accident: Speeding Car Kills 5 People Performing Kirtan In Supaul

A tragic road accident in Bihar's Supaul district claimed five lives after a speeding car ran over people performing Kirtan near a temple on NH-327E. Three died on the spot while two succumbed during treatment.

A horrific road accident has shaken the Supaul district of Bihar, where a speeding car caused massive destruction late Tuesday night, while the incident occurred in the Pipra police station area near Kataiya Chowk on NH-327E. According to reports, a group of people were sitting near a Bajrangbali temple along the roadside, engaged in Kirtan, when an uncontrolled car mowed them down. The impact was so severe that it resulted in the immediate death of three individuals, while several others were left critically injured. The death toll has since risen to five as two more victims passed away during medical treatment.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The accident took place late at night when the victims were performing religious hymns near the temple. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, noting that the car was traveling at an extremely high speed, while the vehicle was so out of control that after hitting the group of people, it continued for about 50 meters before crashing into a shop located on the roadside. The suddenness of the crash left the victims with no time to react. Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after hearing the loud crash and the cries of the victims.

Identification of the Deceased and Injured

The three individuals who lost their lives on the spot have been identified as 65 year old Tilo Das, 50 year old Rajo Das, and 45 year old Surendra Yadav. Tilo Das and Rajo Das were residents of Ward Number 12, while Surendra Yadav hailed from Ward Number 15. Following the initial impact, three other individuals, identified as Bhuvneshri Yadav, Ramchandra Yadav, and Krishna Sah, were found in critical condition. They were immediately rushed to the Sadar Hospital for emergency medical care. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, Bhuvneshri Yadav and Ramchandra Yadav succumbed to their injuries during treatment, bringing the total number of fatalities to five, while krishna Sah continues to undergo treatment for his injuries.

Uproar at Sadar Hospital

As news of the deaths spread, a wave of mourning and anger swept through the families of the victims. The atmosphere at both the accident site and the Sadar Hospital became extremely tense. Upon receiving information about the death of two more victims during treatment, the relatives became agitated and began a protest within the hospital premises. The local police and administrative officials present at the scene had to intervene to pacify the grieving families and maintain order, while the emotional distress of the families was evident as they demanded accountability for the negligence that led to this tragedy.

Police Investigation and Administrative Response

The Pipra police station personnel arrived at the accident site shortly after the incident to take control of the situation. The police have seized the damaged car involved in the accident and have initiated a formal investigation. Authorities are currently examining the role of the driver and investigating whether the accident was caused by overspeeding, mechanical failure, or driver negligence. The police are also trying to determine the exact speed of the vehicle at the time of the collision. Supaul District Magistrate Sawan Kumar expressed deep grief over the loss of lives. In a significant move to support the bereaved families, the District Magistrate has announced a compensation of 4 lakh rupees for the kin of each deceased person. The administration is ensuring that all necessary assistance and relief measures are provided to the affected families during this difficult time.
