WB Panchayat Elections: West Bengal's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Locket Chatterjee became emotional while narrating an incident that happened during the Panchayat elections in a press conference on Friday. Locket Chatterjee broke down in tears recalling the alleged sexual harassment of a BJP candidate during the panchayat elections in Bengal's Howrah district on July 8. He accused TMC workers for this.

Locket Chatterjee said, one incident after another is happening in Bengal. Tell me where should we go. We are also the daughter of the country. The daughter of Manipur is also the daughter of the country. West Bengal is also in the country. The BJP MP said that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says that this is a small incident. Be it Murshidabad, South 24 Parganas or Cooch Behar… this is happening everywhere. There was loot in the Panchayat elections, there was no counting and they won.

What did Locket Chatterjee say?

Addressing the press conference and citing incidents of atrocities against women, Locket Chatterjee said, 'We are also women. We also want to save our daughters. We are also the daughters of the country. West Bengal is a part of the country. PM Modi condemned the Manipur incident yesterday. He said that there should be law and order work for the safety of women in every state. We want you to talk about the daughters of our region as well.

After a video of women being paraded naked and raped in Manipur went viral, a BJP MP spoke about similar incidents of sexual harassment that took place in West Bengal during panchayat elections. Locket Chatterjee started crying while speaking and asked people to pay attention to the daughters of Bengal as well.

The BJP MP said, on the day of election on July 8, a BJP woman worker was asked to strip in Panchla. On July 11, a TMC candidate was attacked in Domjur on the day of counting. He also lodged an FIR. But there is no video because people were carrying guns inside the booth. So shall we talk about these issues only when a video goes viral? Why is everyone silent?
