BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Idiot Remark On Students In Lok Sabha

The political atmosphere in the Lok Sabha has intensified following the discussion on the Anti-Paper Leak Bill, where the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, made several controversial remarks. In a swift and sharp rebuttal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come forward to challenge the allegations and statements made by the Congress leader. BJP MP Sambit Patra held a press conference to address the issues raised by Rahul Gandhi, asserting that the opposition leader's comments were an insult to the student community of the country.

BJP Rebuts Rahul Gandhi's Remarks on Students

During the parliamentary session, Rahul Gandhi's choice of words regarding students became a focal point of contention. Sambit Patra, representing the ruling party, stated that the students of India are neither idiots nor andhbhakts (blind followers). He emphasized that by using such terminology, Rahul Gandhi has shown a lack of respect for the youth of the nation. Patra further elaborated that Rahul Gandhi had categorized students into three distinct groups, which the BJP views as a derogatory move, while according to Patra, while the Congress leader seems preoccupied with Generation Gandhi, he lacks genuine concern for Gen-Z, the current generation of young citizens who are striving for their future.

Controversy Over Jantar Mantar Firing Claims

The debate also touched upon the opposition's claims regarding an alleged incident at Jantar Mantar. The opposition claimed that orders were given to fire upon protesting students at the site. However, the BJP has categorically denied these allegations. Sambit Patra questioned the validity of such claims, stating that if no firing actually took place in Delhi, then the question of an order being issued doesn't arise. He explained the legal procedure, noting that while a magistrate is the authority who issues orders for firing, no such event occurred. The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of making these claims solely to create a sensation and mislead the public, as he repeatedly mentioned an order for an event that never happened.

Allegations Against the Home Minister and Anarchy

Rahul Gandhi also raised questions about the absence of the Home Minister in the House, to which the BJP responded firmly. Sambit Patra stated that unlike Rahul Gandhi, the Home Minister doesn't frequently travel abroad. He asserted that every action and movement of Home Minister Amit Shah is a matter of public record and is transparent. The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of leveling false allegations against Amit Shah. On top of that, the ruling party claimed that Rahul Gandhi is attempting to come to power by spreading anarchy across the country through his provocative statements. The BJP also reminded the public that Rahul Gandhi has a history of insulting the Indian Army in the past.

The Mic-Off Controversy in Lok Sabha

Another significant point of conflict was Rahul Gandhi's allegation that his microphone was turned off during his speech in the Lok Sabha. Sambit Patra dismissed these claims as entirely false, stating that the microphone wasn't turned off by any external authority. Instead, Patra alleged that Rahul Gandhi himself turned off his own microphone. He remarked that Rahul Gandhi can't call himself an idiot inside the House while maintaining the dignity of the Parliament, but he knows the truth, and so does the country. Patra emphasized that the House operates according to established rules and maintains a certain level of decorum, which must be respected by all members.
