New Delhi: Even though the second wave of corona is on the rise in India, but the cases of black fungus are increasing rapidly. So far, 40,845 cases of black fungus ie mucormycosis have been reported in the country. Most of these patients have infections in the brain and nasal system. This data has been released during the 29th meeting of the Central Government on Corona on Monday. So far, 40,845 cases of black fungus have been found in the country, out of which 31,344 are cases in which infection has occurred in the brain or the nasal system of the patients. It is also called Rhinocerebral mucormycosis. Due to this fungus accumulates in the brain, nasal system, mouth etc.

Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, 'So far 3,129 people have died due to black fungus. Of the patients of black fungus, 34,940 had corona. Apart from this, 64 percent i.e. 26,187 people had serious diseases. Apart from this, there were 52.69 percent people who got this infection due to taking steroids. Not only this, black fungus is also making people of all age groups its victims like corona. Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that 32 per cent of the patients who were in the grip of black fungus were in the age group of 18 to 45 years. Apart from this, there were 17,464 patients, whose age is also between 45 and 60 years. At the same time, 24% i.e. 10,082 people above 60 years of age have fallen victim to it.

However, in the meantime, there is rapid relief from the second wave of Corona. ICMR Chief Balram Bhargava, who was present in the meeting of the Group of Ministers on Corona, said that even though the second wave is now weakening. But still need to be careful. The reason for this is that even now there are 80 districts of the country where the positivity rate is very high. Bhargava said that at this stage, any kind of negligence can cost us dearly. Talking about active cases, at present, the average in Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and West Bengal is also higher than the national level.

Big relief on Corona from 19 states of the country

Apart from this, there is news of relief from 19 states of the country. Here the number of people who die of corona every day has now remained in single digits. At the same time, in Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the death toll from corona still remains more than 100 every day. In the last 24 hours, 46,148 cases of corona have been found in the country. With this, the number of active cases in the country has now come down from 6 lakh to 5,72,994.
