Blue Drum Murder Case: Court To Sentence Muskan And Sahil Today Amid Death Penalty Demand

The Meerut district court is scheduled to announce the sentence for Muskan and Sahil today in the sensational blue drum murder case. The prosecution has sought the death penalty for the duo who brutally murdered Sourav and disposed of his body in a cement-packed drum.

The legal proceedings in the high-profile blue drum murder case have reached a critical juncture as the district court in Meerut is set to pronounce the sentence for the convicts, Muskan and her accomplice Sahil, today. Both individuals were previously found guilty on September 30 for the gruesome murder of Sourav, who was Muskan's husband. The prosecution has presented a strong case, demanding the maximum punishment of the death penalty for both convicts, citing the extreme brutality and cold-blooded nature of the crime that shocked the entire region.

The Gruesome Crime and Discovery

The case dates back to a horrific incident where Sourav, who worked abroad and had returned home on leave to celebrate his wife Muskan and their daughter's birthdays, was murdered. According to the investigation, Muskan and her lover Sahil conspired to eliminate Sourav. After committing the murder, they took extreme measures to hide the evidence, while they chopped Sourav's body into multiple pieces, stuffed them into a large blue drum, and filled the drum with cement to seal it completely. This macabre method was intended to prevent any odor or discovery of the remains.

The plot began to unravel when Muskan went on a trip to Himachal Pradesh with Sahil, leaving her 6-year-old daughter with her maternal grandparents. Upon her return, the young daughter persistently asked to see her father, while muskan attempted to mislead her family and the child by claiming that Sourav had to leave suddenly for his overseas job. However, the child's constant insistence and the growing suspicion of the grandparents eventually broke Muskan's resolve. Under pressure from the family and subsequent police interrogation, the truth emerged. The police eventually recovered the blue drum containing Sourav's remains based on the information provided by the two accused.

Muskan's Plea and Jail Life

Muskan and Sahil are currently lodged in the Chaudhary Charan Singh Prison in Meerut, while following her conviction on September 30, Muskan made an emotional plea to the prison administration on October 1. She expressed a deep desire to meet her 6-year-old daughter one last time before the sentence is officially announced. 5 years ago, Muskan's parents have not visited her in jail, nor have they brought her daughter to see her. The prison authorities have informed her that a meeting is possible if her relatives bring the child to the facility. Muskan has reportedly written a formal letter requesting a meeting with her daughter, who is currently in the custody of her maternal grandparents.

Interestingly, while in prison, Muskan gave birth to another daughter. Despite this, her longing for her elder daughter remains intense as the day of sentencing arrives. On the other hand, Sahil's behavior in jail has also seen changes. He has reportedly stopped his agricultural work within the prison premises, stating that he would only resume work after the court delivers its final verdict. Both convicts have been observed to be restless and have avoided communication with other inmates as the hour of judgment approaches.

Court Proceedings via Video Conferencing

In the latest development, the court conducted a session via video conferencing with Sahil and Muskan from the district jail, while during this session, the judge provided both convicts an opportunity to speak, asking if they had anything to say before the final sentencing. Both Sahil and Muskan chose to remain silent and declined to make any statements. The court is expected to reconnect with them via video conferencing later today for the formal announcement of the punishment, while the entire city awaits the decision, as the demand for the death penalty highlights the severity of the crime involving the betrayal of a spouse and the cold-blooded execution of a murder.
