India / Brainstorming on Presidential election, Mamta is gathering opposition, Rajnath has a big responsibility

New Delhi : In view of the Presidential election, BJP has entrusted a big responsibility to National President JP Nadda and Rajnath Singh. Both these leaders will consult with the NDA constituents as well as the opposition parties. BJP will talk to NDA allies, independent leaders and UPA parties on a consensus candidate. A day earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written a letter to the Chief Ministers of non-BJP ruled states along with the leaders of the opposition, requesting them to attend the meeting in Delhi on June 15.

The TMC issued a statement saying that the TMC supremo has contacted 22 leaders and appealed to them to stand against the 'divisive forces'. The meeting will be held at Constitution Club on June 15 from 3 pm in which the opposition can try to build a consensus on its candidate.

To whom did Mamata Banerjee write a letter?

Mamata Banerjee Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Apart from NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, other senior leaders have also been appealed to attend the meeting. An official statement from the party said, "We need to leave our separation and unite for the country."

Presidential election will be held on July 18

The Election Commission has fixed July 18 as the date for the presidential election. The term of the incumbent President Ram Nath Kovind ends on July 24. This time 4809 new electors will vote for the new President. Last time the opposition had named Meira Kumar as its presidential candidate. She lost the election to Ramnath Kovind.
