Piyush Goyal said: some sectors of the railway will be opened for private sector for investment

Government plans to invest 1.60 lakh crores this year, it is 4 times more than 2013-14

Panaji Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that by 2030, Indian Railways will make the world's best rail service. For this, investment of 50 lakh crore will be needed, but the government alone can not fulfill it.Privatization will be needed in some areas. Goyal reached the BJP's Goa unit membership campaign program on Saturday. He said that the railway has reached Goa. Now expanding it will be made friendly for tourism.

Keeping in mind 11-12 years ahead of the budget

Goyal said, "I am not talking about privatization of railways but for the investment some sectors of the railway can be opened for the private sector. Private sector can operate their railroad in these areas in exchange for license fee. Railway is a major means of transportation and it has been taken care of in the budget. Looking at the future of the 11-12 years, Rs 50 lakh crore has been proposed for the Railways in the budget.

The Railway Minister said that due to the increase in the load on the railways passengers and freighters are facing inconvenience and insecurity. Considering the safety of the passengers and the expansion of the railway, a scheme has been planned to double this year compared to the last five years. This amount is around Rs 1.60 lakh crore. In 2013-14, it was 40 to 45 thousand crores.

The government alone is not able to invest 50 lakh crore. Goyal

According to Goyal, the government alone is not able to invest Rs 50 lakh crore. For this, we have to bring the technology, investment and public-private partnership or TOT (toll operated transfer) model of international standards. We just want to develop the railway, for this we will adopt a different model.

Private companies can lease their line

He said, "Under a scheme, some sectors may be such that private companies can lay their own lines. We will not have any problems. They can license us. Railways will be able to increase their revenue. If its revenue increases, it will be able to provide better facilities to its passengers.
