Online Gaming: During this IPL, many of you will be watching matches and also playing online games. As with most mobile gaming apps, you create a team, then pay some money to enter your team in a slot. Lakhs or crores of rupees are said to be given to the winner of this slot. You never know how your team will perform in the real match. You win or lose by the performance of your selected players. But in this game a different type of game is played, it is called betting. On the pretext of mobile or online gaming, you are lured to play betting, then you are fed betting through a website.

Central government made these rules

In this betting, you lose your hard earned money and cannot even complain to anyone. The reason is that there were no rules for the online incarnation of this type of online gaming or betting. For this reason, some online gaming companies were looking for new ways to trap people in the quagmire of betting. Now the government has shown strictness regarding this. The government has made some special rules regarding online gaming. The central government has prepared special rules to prevent betting on online gaming and the online game with which money is attached.

Arrangement will be like censor board

Not only rules, the government has made a special system like the censor board made for films, whose job is to keep an eye on online gaming. The central government has notified the rules for online gaming under the IT rules of the year 2021 regarding betting and fraud on online gaming. It has been named Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code, Amendment Rules, 2023. It has been said to form a special committee to completely stop the game of 'game of chance' i.e. winning or losing money on luck.

Users will also be able to complain

Every online gaming company will come under this rule. The government will create a Self Regulatory Organization for gaming companies. This SRO will have psychiatrists, economists, educationists and people associated with mobile gaming. SRO will be such a committee, in which users associated with the gaming app will also be able to make complaints and this committee will redress them. Self Regulatory Organization created for online gaming, will be a kind of censor board. All gaming companies will now move forward in this way. Only SRO will decide the rules for gaming companies. Some of these have also been fixed, which were in dire need.

From now on such online games, in which money is taken from the users, or say money is linked to this game, then it will be necessary to get KYC done for that. Online gaming companies have to take permission from SRO before launching any game. Such online games, which take money for anything, will also have to get KYC done. Running promotions related to betting on the gaming app has also been considered a violation of the rules. If a game does not take permission from SRO, then it will be removed from Google Play Store and Apple Store. The government has also asked Google Play Store and App Store to remove gaming apps that are harmful to users.

Regarding online gaming, the central government has taken this step for about 40 crore online game users. There are many such users among them, who would have got caught in the betting trap on the pretext of online gaming, and would have lost their money, and not only this, they would not have been able to complain about it either. Users should not get trapped in such a situation, that is why the government has created SRO. In a way, the central government has taken serious steps to protect the users engaged in online gaming from safe and betting. The advantage of this will be that such online games, which lure users into betting by giving wrong information, can be stopped. In fact, money is involved in many games. You keep money in the online game wallet so that you can use it while playing the game.

Under the new rule, such online games in which bets are placed on win-loss, those games will not be allowed. Such online games in which money is being invested or earned, the government is getting challenges related to money laundering. That is why the government wants to impose these restrictions. By creating SRO, the central government is creating a legal system with the states, on which action can be taken. We had shown you a news on the mobile gaming app and website 'Mahadev Book' on 31st March. In this, we had told you that in the name of playing online games, this gaming company was making you play betting. Your hard earned money was being looted. This company was operating from Dubai and the betting of this company was spread in many states in the country. A user had complained to the police about the fraud of 'Mahadev Book' mobile gaming app. After which the betting racket of this online gaming app was revealed.

About 40 crore people of the country play online games. You will be surprised to know that the online gaming market in the country is increasing every year. In the year 2022, the entire market of online gaming was about 23 thousand crore rupees. It is being estimated that in the coming time it will more than double. It is estimated that by the year 2025, the entire market of online gaming can be worth about 41 thousand crores.

This is the reason why the government needed such rules for the online gaming market, so that they are not misused and users are not affected by them. The government was worried about such online gaming apps, which were being used for betting or were illegal in one way or the other. But will the government's steps be successful? This question is arising because the government had banned about 232 mobile apps last year after the connection to China came to the fore. But despite this, many of these mobile apps will still be present in the phones of many of you.
