Cricket | Former Indian cricket team batsman Suresh Raina on Tuesday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. After this announcement, Raina will no longer play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and domestic cricket as well. He took retirement from international cricket on 15 August 2020 with the retirement of former captain MS Dhoni. The reaction of his IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has come after Raina, popularly known as Mr IPL, took his retirement from cricket.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kashi Viswanathan has said that he respects star batsman Raina's decision to retire and extends his best wishes for the future. Kashi Vishwanathan told news agency ANI, "Suresh Raina told us about his decision two days back that he is leaving IPL. We respect his decision and wish him the best. He is an integral part of CSK as he has done a lot for CSK for ten years. We extend our best wishes to them for the future.”

Suresh Raina, a left-handed batsman and popularly known as Mr IPL, tweeted, "It is an absolute honor to represent my country and state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all forms of cricket. BCCI, UPCA, Chennai Super Kings, Rajeev Shukla Sir and would like to thank all my fans for their support and unwavering belief in my abilities."

Raina did not play in IPL 2020 but was part of Chennai Super Kings in the 2021 season. However, he was neither retained by Chennai Super Kings nor bought by any team before the mega auction of IPL 2022. In such a situation, he was associated in the IPL as a commentator and was away from the world of cricket. Although, he still wants to play cricket, but he is not getting a chance in BCCI related tournaments in India. In such a situation, he has expressed his desire to retire from Indian cricket and play in foreign leagues. According to media reports, he is also in talks to play in some foreign leagues.
