Delhi: The Congress party on Monday launched a scathing attack on the central government over the appearance of Rahul Gandhi before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an alleged money laundering case, alleging that he has spread terror in the country by misusing the investigating agencies. Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, claiming that former Home Minister Chidambaram was thrashed by the police due to which he got hurt.

Surjewala wrote, "Modi government has crossed all limits of vandalism. Former home minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram was hit by police, his glasses were thrown on the ground, he has a hairline fracture in his left rib. MP Pramod Tiwari thrown on the road." Gaya. Head injury and rib fracture. Is this democracy?"

In another tweet, he said, "The whole day has passed, the attack is on. The Congress General Secretary, Shri KC Venugopal was targeted with a deadly attack. MP, Shakti Singh Gohil was attacked. Congress workers were beaten up. Thousands are imprisoned. Democracy has been trampled upon.

The country will not forgive the Modi government."

Earlier, the country's main opposition party also claimed that the Narendra Modi government at the Center imposed an 'undeclared emergency' in New Delhi area to stop the party's 'satyagraha' on the appearance of Rahul Gandhi before the ED. Many senior party leaders and a large number of workers took out a march in support of Rahul Gandhi, after which the police took many people into custody.

In view of the Congress march and the 'Satyagraha', the police had put up blockades on several roads leading to '24 Akbar Road' (Congress Headquarters) and imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in the area. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram took a dig at this and said that only bulldozer is not visible near the Congress office.
