Karnataka CM: After five days of persuasion and Sonia Gandhi's intervention, DK Shivakumar, adamant for Karnataka CM, finally agreed. Siddaramaiah will be the CM of Karnataka and he will be the Deputy CM. Sonia Gandhi had a conversation with DK through video conferencing late at 2 o'clock in the night. Only after this he got ready for the post of Deputy CM. KC Venugopal formally announced this in a press conference after 10 hours at 12 noon on Thursday. Earlier in the morning, Shivakumar said, 'I agree to the party's formula. There are Lok Sabha elections ahead and I am ready for the responsibilities. Keeping in mind the interest of the party, I have given consent. DK's brother and MP DK Suresh said that I am not completely happy.

Actually, DK wanted to become the CM, but the high command had already decided on Siddaramaiah's name. Several rounds of meetings were held between Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and him to convince DK on this decision. However, there was no result in these.

KC Venugopal said, 'For the last 3-4 days we were trying to reach an agreement. DK Shivakumar has filled energy in the workers of the state. There is no doubt about it. Shivakumar was the chairman and Siddaramaiah was accompanying. Both hold a huge stature for the party in Karnataka.

Yes, everyone has their own desires. Both are very capable. We talked to the high command, talked to all these people. Apart from Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka, other senior leaders also attended. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge took the decision. He told me that you convey this order to the people of Karnataka through the media. They have decided that Siddaramaiah will be the chief minister. DK Shivakumar will be the only deputy CM. He will also continue to be the PCC president till the Lok Sabha elections.

Oath-taking will take place on May 20 at 12:30 pm. Apart from the Chief Minister and Deputy CM, some ministers will also take oath. Congress has called a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party in Bengaluru at 7 pm today. The Central Observer of the party will also reach in this. The Congress won a majority on 13 May by winning 135 of the 224 seats.

DK will become the CM after the Lok Sabha elections.

Shivakumar has agreed to the 50-50 formula. Siddaramaiah will be the CM for the first two and a half years and DK for the next two and a half years. Means DK will become the Chief Minister in 2025 after the Lok Sabha elections. However, now who will be the Congress state president of Karnataka, its name is not decided.

Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar reached the residence of senior Congress leader KC Venugopal on Thursday morning to meet him.

DK's brother DK Suresh said that I am not completely happy, but in the interest of Karnataka we want to fulfill our commitment... That is why DK has accepted this formula... In future We'll see, there's a long way to go. I want CM post for DK Shivakumar...but it didn't happen, we will wait and see.

Former Karnataka Deputy CM G Parameshwara said let the AICC officially announce who is to be given which position, and then the rest will move forward.

According to party sources, Congress President Kharge will also send invitations to the leaders of the opposition for the swearing-in ceremony. Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi will also reach Bengaluru.

DK was not ready to accept earlier

DK clearly told Kharge that if you want to make him, then make him CM, he will not become deputy CM.

DK-Siddha had a meeting with Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in the morning, but could not reach a consensus. The ongoing preparations for the swearing-in in Bengaluru were stopped. Earlier, DK had said that if Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is made the Chief Minister, then he is ready to work under his leadership.

DK had said – I will neither cheat nor blackmail

DK Shivakumar said in Bengaluru on Tuesday morning, 'We are all one. We are 135. I don't want to divide anyone. whether they like me or not. I am a responsible person. I will not cheat nor blackmail. We built the Congress party, we built this house. I am a part of it.

He said, 'A mother gives everything to her child. Sonia Gandhi is our role model. Congress is like family to everyone. Our constitution is very important and we have to protect the interests of all. Our next target is to win 20 seats in the Lok Sabha. The Congress has not been able to announce the CM since the election results came out on May 13.

The formula to form the government in Karnataka is almost fixed. Siddaramaiah coming from Kuruba community can be made CM. There can be three deputy CMs under him. All three will be from different communities.
