On Wednesday, the Supreme Court had reserved its decision in this matter. CM Yogi Adityanath is accused of giving inflammatory speech in the year 2007. The filing of the case in this case has been stayed. At the same time, the UP government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court, in which it has been requested not to allow the trial. The Supreme Court will deliver its verdict in this matter today.

Earlier on Wednesday, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh government, presented Chief Justice NV Ramanna, Justice Hima Kohli and Justice C.T. Ravikumar that nothing is left in the matter and the CD was sent to CFSL, which found that it was tampered with. Noting that the issue raised in the petition has already been considered by the High Court, he said, "You cannot beat a dead horse after 15 years because that man is the CM today."

In February 2018, the High Court had said that it did not find any procedural error in the decision to deny sanction to prosecute. Petitioner Parvez Parwaz and others had moved the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order. The bench told the counsel for the petitioners that if there is no criminal proceeding, then where is the question of sanction.
