Controversy continues in Karnataka over Hijab. Even after the interim order of the High Court to follow the dress code, the girls reached many places wearing hijab and burqa, to which the college administration objected. When the controversy over hijab escalated in Hubli's SJMV Women's College, the management decided to close the institute itself. The girl students said that we had come to the classes today, but the college administration asked us to remove the burqa and hijab for entry. We are ready to remove the burqa, but will not remove the hijab. A lot of effort was made by the administration to convince the girl students, but due to their disobedience and the dispute escalated, an attempt was made to close the college itself.

College administrative officer Lingaraj Angadi said, “We have today complied with the order of the High Court, which clearly states that the students have to follow the dress code in schools and colleges. But some people said that we will not come to the institute without hijab. So today we have declared a holiday. Meanwhile, the hijab controversy is going to be heard once again in the Karnataka High Court. Today will be the sixth day in the High Court when the matter will be heard. During the hearing on Tuesday, the lawyer representing the girl students had said that hijab is a part of Islam.
