Israel-Hamas War: On 5 February, an event was organized in Rawalkot, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), named "Kashmir Solidarity and Hamas Operation 'Al Aqsa Flood' Conference". Senior Hamas leader Dr. Khalid al-Kadumi attended this event. But the most shocking thing was that leaders of Pakistan-based terrorist organizations Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were also present with him on this stage. This was the first time that a senior Hamas leader made his public presence in PoK. During this event, terrorists gave anti-India speeches and demonstrated power by riding motorcycles and horses while waving Hamas flags. This incident has given rise to security concerns for both India and Israel.Israel expressed concern, appealed to IndiaIsrael has expressed serious concern over the presence of Hamas leader in PoK and has appealed to India to seriously consider this matter. Israeli officials have clearly stated that Hamas' alliance with Pakistan-backed terrorist organizations is extremely worrying. They have urged India to include Hamas in its list of terrorist organizations. At present, Hamas has not been officially declared a terrorist organization in India. So far 44 organizations have been declared terrorists under the Indian law "Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967" (UAPA), but Hamas is not named in it. After Israel's request, a debate may erupt on this issue in India.Which countries have declared Hamas a terrorist organization?Hamas has been declared a terrorist organization by countries like the US (since 1997), the European Union, Canada, Australia and Britain. However, some countries like Russia, China and Turkey have not done so yet.On 7 October 2023, Hamas carried out a horrific terrorist attack in Israel, which is considered to be the biggest terrorist attack in the history of Israel. The attack led to the Gaza war, killing thousands of people.Strong India-Israel relations and strict action against terrorismIndia and Israel have significantly strengthened their strategic and defense cooperation in the last few years. Especially in anti-terrorism operations, extensive coordination has been seen between the two countries. The "India-Israel Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism", established in 2002, meets every year, discussing important issues such as border security, terrorist funding and cyber security.Hamas' presence in PoK is a serious threat to India. This is a clear indication that Pakistan-based terrorist organizations are linked to a larger network of not only Kashmir but global terrorism. India will need to further strengthen its counter-terrorism policies to face this challenge.ConclusionThe alliance of Hamas and Pakistan-based terrorist organizations can pose a serious threat to global security. India should further strengthen its cooperation with Israel and clarify its position against terrorism at the international level. Ignoring this development could prove to be a serious threat to national security.
