Sources in the Health Ministry, however, said that the seriousness of the infection is less. Even if there is a wave of Kovid, the rate of deaths and hospitalization of infected people will be very low.

States have been alerted

Amidst the rapid increase in the cases of Kovid-19 in some countries including China and South Korea, the government has alerted and asked the states and union territories to prepare to deal with any emergency situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya have held meetings to take stock of the preparedness to deal with the spurt in Covid cases. There has been a recent increase in cases from the sub-variant BF.7 of the Omicron variant of the corona virus. Official sources said that the rate of spread of BF.7 is very high and one infected person can infect 16 people.

Government can take this step

Apart from this, the government can make negative RT-PCR report mandatory for passengers coming from China and five other places from next week. Sources said that for international passengers coming from China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore, from next week, filling of 'air suvidha' form and RT-PCR test 72 hours in advance may be made mandatory. Sources said that in the last two days, 6,000 international passengers who came to India were tested for Kovid-19, of which 39 reports have come positive.
