The companies that make Corona Vaccine Covishield and Covaxin on Saturday announced to reduce their prices. Now in private hospitals, a dose of both these vaccines will cost Rs 225. Earlier, in private hospitals, a dose of Covishield was available for Rs 600 and Covaxin for Rs 1,200.

Announcement made after the decision of the central government

The price reduction has been announced following the decision to introduce the precautionary dose to all adult citizens. The central government had announced on Friday that from April 10 i.e. Sunday, all citizens of 18+ age would be administered the third dose of corona vaccine in private hospitals.

After the announcement of the central government, on Friday, Adar Poonawalla, managing director of Serum Institute of India, the company that manufactures Kovidshield, praised this move of the government and announced to reduce the price of the vaccine in a tweet. Poonawalla said that his company would charge Rs 225 for a dose in private hospitals instead of Rs 600.

On the other hand, Suchitra Alla, the joint MD of Bharat Biotech, the company that makes the vaccine, has also announced in a tweet to reduce the price of the vaccine from Rs 1200 to Rs 225.

Now how much will it cost to get the preparation dose?

The government will not bear the cost of preparation dose for people above 18 years of age. For this, you will have to pay according to the cost of the vaccine at private centers. The government has fixed the cost of CoveShield at Rs 780, Covaxin at Rs 1,410 and Sputnik V at Rs 1,145 at private centres, but after today's announcement, CoveShield and Covaxin will be available at Rs 225-225 only. It is not yet clear whether private centers will be able to charge any charges for applying the vaccine on top of this.

Who will get the preparation dose of Corona Vaccine?

All people above the age of 18 years will be able to get the publication dose of the corona vaccine. However, the preparation dose will be given only to those people who have taken the second dose for more than 9 months. You will be able to have the preparation dose only when you have completed 9 months of your second dose.

Which vaccine will be in the preparation dose?

The same vaccine of Kovid will be used in the preparation dose, which has been given earlier. If you received two doses of CoveShield, then the preparation dose would also be taken from CoveShield. If both doses of Covaxin were given earlier, then the preparation dose will also be given of Covaxin.

Where can I get the preparation dose?

According to the government order, all people above 18 years of age can get the vaccine dose administered at private vaccination centers. For people above 18 years of age, the prescription dose will not be available at government centres.

At government centers, only the elderly and frontline workers above 60 years of age will be given prescription dose for free. However, the facility of first and second free dose running by the government will continue for all.
