Assam Chief Minister Dr. Hemant Biswa Sarma's wife Rinki Bhuiyan Sarma on Tuesday filed a defamation case against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. While filing a civil case of defamation in the court of Gauhati Kamrup Civil Judge, a demand of Rs 100 crore has been made for damages

Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia alleged in a press conference on June 4 that the Assam government had ordered the company of the Chief Minister's wife and sons to buy PPE kits from the market in 2020 during the Corona epidemic.

Rinki Bhuiyan Sarma's lawyer Padmadhar Nayak said he expected the case to be listed by Wednesday. Hemant Biswa Sarma had said after the allegation on behalf of the AAP leader that he would take legal action. In his clarification, the Chief Minister of Assam said, "When the whole country was facing the worst pandemic in 100 years. Assam hardly had any PPE kits. My wife showed courage to come forward and donated 1500 PPE kits to the government, she did not take a single penny.

Refuting the allegations of the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, Sarma said that the PPE kits were donated to the government and his wife's company did not pay any bills for it. Tagging the bill of JCB Industries, Sisodia wrote on Twitter, "Hon'ble Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma ji this is your wife ordering 5000 kits in the name of JCB Industries at Rs 990 per kit. Tell me is this paper fake? Isn't it corruption to give orders to your wife as health minister?

Clarifying on Sisodia's allegations, the Chief Minister's wife Rinku Bhuiyan wrote, "Assam did not have a single PPE kit in the first week of the pandemic. Taking cognizance of this, I reached out to a business acquaintance and sent 1500 PPE kits with great effort. Later I asked NHM to understand it under my CSR. I did not charge a single penny for this supply.
