Distressed by molestation in a village in Kairana area in Shamli district, a Scheduled Caste girl (16) hanged herself to death. The accused was harassing the girl for a long time. Last year, she was studying in class nine in an inter-college in the area and dropped out after being fed up with the youth's antics.

The last call in the student's mobile has also been received from the accused, it is believed that before committing suicide, the young man had harassed her by calling on the mobile. CO Bijendra Bhadana said that a report has been registered against the accused Kapil Kashyap for abetment of suicide and under the sections of the SC-ST Act, efforts are being made to arrest the accused.

The girl's mother, a resident of Kairana, had died about 12 years ago. Father and brother work in a factory. She was alone at home at the time of the incident. When her father called on her mobile at around 7 pm on Wednesday, she did not get up. When he sent his niece home, he saw the girl's body hanging from the noose made on the fan.

Giving a complaint in Kotwali, the father of the teenager told that last year his daughter was studying in class nine in the college located in Khandravali. On the way to college, accused Kapil Kashyap used to molest his daughter. Due to which her daughter had to leave her studies.

The girl's father says that even after this the accused did not desist from his antics. Shortly before the suicide, the accused Kapil had harassed his daughter by calling her on her mobile. His number is found in mobile. On Wednesday evening, the girl's father and brother were in the factory and the teenager was alone at home. At around seven o'clock in the evening, the girl's father called the daughter and she did not pick up the phone. On which he sent his niece home. When the niece reached there, the door of the room was locked from inside. When he peeped inside the window, he saw the girl's body hanging on the ceiling fan with the help of a dupatta.

On receiving the information, the girl's father and brother reached the house and called the police. Kairana police reached the spot and opened the door and took off the body from the fan and sent it for post-mortem.
