The ongoing controversy surrounding Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh and his association with the highly anticipated film Don 3 has taken a significant turn. After days of tension and public debate, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has officially withdrawn the non-cooperation directive it had previously issued against the actor. This development comes as a major relief to the actor's camp and has been welcomed by the Cine and TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA), which stood firmly by Ranveer Singh throughout the ordeal.
The Genesis of the FWICE Directive
The issue began when reports surfaced regarding Ranveer Singh's decision to step away from the project Don 3. The film, produced by Excel Entertainment under the leadership of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, had already entered extensive pre-production stages. Following Ranveer's decision not to proceed with the film, Excel Entertainment reportedly filed a complaint with FWICE. Consequently, on May 25, the federation issued a non-cooperation notice against the actor, which created a stir across the Indian film industry. However, the situation has now de-escalated as the federation decided to retract the order after a period of internal deliberations and external pressure from artist bodies.
Poonam Dhillon and CINTAA's Firm Support
Poonam Dhillon, the veteran actress and current President of CINTAA, played a pivotal role in supporting Ranveer Singh during this crisis, while speaking to Variety, Dhillon expressed her satisfaction with the withdrawal of the notice. She stated that as an actor and the head of CINTAA, she was pleased that the directive was revoked, asserting that Ranveer Singh didn't deserve such treatment, while dhillon emphasized that CINTAA had been opposing the move from the beginning, arguing that FWICE didn't have the authority to take such disciplinary action against an actor for their professional choices.
Professional Autonomy and Industry Relations
During her interaction, Poonam Dhillon highlighted the importance of an actor's right to choose their work, while she noted that the decision to work on a project is a matter between the actor and the producer, and they should be the ones to deal with it. Dhillon praised Ranveer Singh's dedication and responsibility toward his craft, which has been evident throughout his career. She further pointed out that Ranveer shares an excellent professional relationship with Excel Entertainment, having successfully collaborated on acclaimed films like Gully Boy and Dil Dhadakne Do, while she also extended support to Farhan Akhtar, noting that he's also an actor and a member of the fraternity, stressing that the association doesn't wish for any actor to face such hurdles.
Gratitude from Ranveer Singh's Father
The resolution of the matter brought emotional relief to Ranveer Singh's family, while poonam Dhillon revealed that Ranveer's father, Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, reached out to her to express his gratitude. The two had a detailed conversation regarding the entire episode. Jagjit Singh Bhavnani thanked CINTAA for their unwavering support and clarified that the family had been in constant contact with the team at Excel Entertainment. He mentioned that they share a close bond with Farhan Akhtar and the entire Excel team, indicating that there was no personal animosity between the parties. However, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the unnecessary interference of FWICE in a professional matter that was being handled internally.
