Mehbooba Mufti: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was furious after a Gujarat court dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's appeal in a defamation case involving the 'Modi surname'. After this decision of the court on Thursday, Mehbooba targeted the BJP and said that it is a 'black day' for Indian democracy. He alleged that the leaders of the opposition parties were being harassed and were either in jail or would be sent to jail.

'BJP wants to end democracy in the country'

Mehbooba said in Anantnag, 'Today is a black day in the democratic history of the country which prides itself on being the mother of democracy. The way Rahul Gandhi is being treated shows that BJP wants to end democracy in the country. They want to bring in a 'one party system' and create a 'BJP nation' by setting aside the Constitution." Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister after a Surat court dismissed Rahul Gandhi's appeal against conviction in a criminal defamation case was reacting.

'Judiciary is the last hope of the people but...'

Mehbooba said, “Judiciary is the last hope of the people but its recent role raises questions. Look at the petitions related to Article 370, they are pending for many years without hearing. Bilkis Bano's case is pending, but Rahul Gandhi's case is being expedited. After the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', Rahul Gandhi has emerged as a credible face and it seems that the BJP is 'scared' of his popularity. Mehbooba said that I am sure people will wake up to the misrule of the 'West India Company'. Will stand up against them in the same way as they stood up against the East India Company before 1947.
