Lok Sabha Elections: The bugle for Lok Sabha elections 2024 has been sounded. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar told in a press conference that like last time, this time too voting will be held in seven phases. According to the announcement of the Election Commission, the first phase of voting will be held on April 19, in which voting will be held on 102 Lok Sabha seats. Voting will be held on 89 Lok Sabha seats in the second phase on April 26. Voting will take place on 94 Lok Sabha seats in the third phase on May 7. Voting will be held on 96 Lok Sabha seats in the fourth phase on June 13, the fifth phase will be held on May 20, on this day voting will be held on 49 Lok Sabha seats, on May 25, voting will be held on 57 seats in the sixth phase and on June 1, voting will be held on 57 seats in the seventh phase.

Before the announcement of the dates, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the world keeps an eye on the elections of the largest democracy. He said that we are fully prepared to conduct fair and free elections. He said that the Commission's team has conducted surveys in all the states and made all the arrangements. He said that we met representatives of all political parties and took feedback from them to improve the system.

Youth and women voters are increasing in the country-EC

The Chief Election Commissioner told in the press conference that 10.5 lakh voting centers have been set up across the country for the Lok Sabha elections. Votes will be cast from 55 lakh EVMs. He said that there are about 97 crore voters in the country, out of which 1.82 crore new voters will vote for the first time. Of these, there are 85 lakh women voters. Of the total voters, there are 49.7 crore male voters while the number of female voters is 47.1 crore. Apart from these, there are 2 lakh 18 thousand voters whose age is above 100 years while 82 lakh are voters above 85 years of age.

There will be special arrangements for elderly voters

The Chief Election Commissioner said in his press conference that several arrangements have been made to make voting better and more convenient. He said that voters above 85 years of age will not need to come to the booth. They will be given the facility to vote from home. He told that before nomination, 12-D forms will be sent to all the voters. He said that our effort is to ensure maximum participation in this festival of democracy.

Commission ready to deal with four challenges

The Chief Election Commission said that strict arrangements have been made for free and fair elections across the country. He said that he wants to stop violence during elections at any cost. He said that there are four types of challenges before us, muscles, money, misinformation and MCC i.e. Model Code of Conduct, arrangements have been made to deal with them. Rajiv Kumar told in a press conference that money power will be closely monitored in the elections. Border areas will be monitored through drones.

Commission's strict guidelines to political parties

The Chief Election Commissioner said that from today till voting, strict action will be taken against those spreading rumors or fake news on social media. He said that people should not give hate speeches during the election campaign. Do not make religious or caste comments in the campaign. The Election Commission said to avoid giving misleading advertisements. Avoid violating the red line. He said that political parties should not use children in campaigning. Give a copy of the guidelines to star campaigners.

Rajiv Kumar said that 2100 observers have been appointed to monitor all types of guidelines and provide feedback.

The tenure of the 17th Lok Sabha is ending on June 16.

The tenure of the 17th Lok Sabha is going to end on 16 June 2014. Before that a new government has to be formed. There are a total of 543 Lok Sabha seats in the country and any party or coalition needs a majority of 272 seats to form the government. Talking about the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, voting was held in 7 phases between 11 April and 19 May and the results were announced on 23 May.
