Rajasthan Elections: After Forest and Environment Minister Hemaram Choudhary's announcement of not contesting the elections, another minister Lalchand Kataria has also refused to contest the assembly elections. It is being claimed that no member of Lalchand Kataria's family will contest the elections. There was speculation that Congress may field Lalchand Kataria against BJP MP Rajyavardhan Rathod from Jhotwara seat. However, his staunch refusal to contest the elections has put the Congress in a difficult position.

Why doesn't Kataria want to contest elections?

According to sources, Chaudhary does not want to contest elections. He gave this information to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Party General Secretary KC. Venugopal, state in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and state president Govind Singh Dotasara. Kataria did not give any information on this matter. But his spokesperson said he had informed the high command two years ago about his intention not to contest the elections. Now he is focusing on spirituality.

Meanwhile, the refusal of two senior ministers to contest the elections has worried the Congress. Congress is more worried about Jhotwara seat. Rathod is contesting from this seat. Sources said that Kataria knows that he is losing the election and is uncomfortable there. Kataria had earlier said that he wanted to contest elections from Amer. Now deputy leader of opposition Satish Poonia is contesting elections from Amer. Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi said, “We are looking for the right candidate and will field him soon.” The Central Election Committee has already called a meeting. Things will move forward as per the wishes and intentions of the high command. If the high command insists, candidates can contest the elections.

'No one wants to board a sinking ship'

Meanwhile, senior BJP worker Amit Goyal said, "The issue is that it has now become clear that Congress is a sinking ship and no one wants to board a sinking ship." Apart from two ministers of the state, former Congress minister Bharat Singh has already refused to contest the elections due to his party's highly corrupt activities. He has been complaining about such matters by writing letters to the CM but no one has taken cognizance of such issues.

Pilot missing in Congress posters

Amit Goyal also took a dig at the delay by Congress in announcing candidates for 105 seats. He said that while CM Ashok Gehlot has said that the seats will be announced two months before the elections, the delay in announcing the candidates for so many seats raises questions. There are a lot of internal fights within the party. During her Rajasthan tour, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had described Sachin Pilot as the future of the party, however, this future of the party is missing in the Congress posters.
