A new Western Disturbance active over Rajasthan has Notably altered the weather patterns across the state, bringing a sudden dip in temperatures. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert for rain in eight districts for Sunday. Over the last 24 hours, border districts including Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Sri Ganganagar witnessed light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds. In Jaisalmer, heavy downpours have led to waterlogging in fields, causing damage to harvested crops.
Impact of Western Disturbance Across Rajasthan
According to the Meteorological Center, the activation of the new system on Saturday has changed the weather in Jaisalmer, Sri Ganganagar, Barmer, and other border districts, while cloud cover was observed in most areas of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, and Jaipur divisions from Saturday afternoon onwards. The department has issued a yellow alert for eight districts, predicting light rain and thunderstorms. This system is expected to bring gusty winds to several parts of the state, further cooling the atmosphere.
Agricultural Damage in Jaisalmer and Border Areas
During the last 24 hours, areas including Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sri Ganganagar, and Phalodi recorded light to moderate rainfall with strong winds. In the Ramgarh and Kuchri areas of Jaisalmer, heavy rain resulted in flooded fields. According to local reports, crops that had been harvested and kept in the fields were damaged due to the waterlogging. The sudden change in weather has posed a challenge for farmers currently engaged in the harvesting of Rabi crops in the border regions.
Fluctuations in Maximum Temperatures

Meteorological Department Forecast for the Week
Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, stated that a weak Western Disturbance remains active in the region. Its partial impact is expected to be seen on March 22 in the districts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions, as well as the Shekhawati region. These areas may experience light rain or drizzling accompanied by thunderstorms. For the rest of the state, the weather is expected to remain largely dry for the next 4-5 days. Authorities have advised residents to stay updated with local weather bulletins.
