A shocking case has come to light from Pune, Maharashtra. Here the police have registered a case against a couple for allegedly keeping their 11-year-old child in the apartment room with 22 stray dogs. This case has been registered under the Juvenile Justice Act at Kondhwa Police Station, Pune.

Police said the local people were aware of the child's condition. After this the neighbors sought help on an NGO- Danyan Devi Child Helpline. From here the police came to know about the whole matter. According to Anuradha Sahasrabuddhe, associated with the child helpline, “We had received information from an informer that a boy was being kept locked up in the apartment in Kondhwa. Locals saw the child from the apartment window and he looked mentally disturbed. "

Sahasrabuddhe told that when NGO workers reached that apartment, it was found locked from outside. But the child and the dog were inside. Skeletons of dogs were also found in this apartment. Even the excreta of the dogs was not cleaned from inside the rooms. The child was being kept in very bad condition.

Officials of the NGO alleged that they did not get much cooperation from the police in this matter. The senior inspector of Kondhwa police station had instructed the policemen to break open the door and take out the child. But the policemen kept avoiding doing so. Sahasrabuddhe told- Our workers spoke to the parents of the child and repeatedly asked the police for help in getting him free. We also rescued the child. But the police did not want to register a complaint. When we informed the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) about the matter, the police registered a case.

According to officials, the boy was being kept with the dogs for two years. This had a negative impact on his mental development. It also came to light that he had started behaving like a dog, due to which he was also stopped from going to school. In such a situation, along with the treatment of the child, the NGO has also demanded counseling for him. An NGO official said the child's father runs a shop and his mother is a graduate. They say that they love dogs, that's why they were keeping these animals in their house.
