Chandrababu Naidu: Former Andhra Pradesh CM and Telugu Desam Party President Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the police on Saturday morning. The Nandyal police of the state handed him an arrest warrant early in the morning and took him into custody. Keeping in mind the opposition from the party workers, the police had come with full force to arrest Naidu.

This is the allegation

Former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu has been arrested in a case related to the Skill Development Corporation scam. An arrest warrant was issued against Naidu by CID. According to reports, Naidu is the first accused in this scam. Former CM Naidu had made the first claim just a few days ago that he could be arrested soon.

Police protest

A large contingent of police led by Nandyal Range DIG Raghurami Reddy and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) reached Naidu's camp at RK Function Hall in the city around 3 am. Here he was taken into custody. He was resting in his bus at that time. The police also faced protests from TDP workers. The SPG, which was protecting Naidu, also did not allow the police to reach Naidu till 5.30 am as per rules. Eventually, around 6 am, the police knocked on the door of Naidu's vehicle, flagged him down and arrested him.

Will be sent to Vijayawada

According to the reports received so far, Chandrababu Naidu will be shifted to Vijayawada. Police have said that Naidu has been arrested under IPC sections 120 (8), 166, 167, 418, 420, 465, 468, 471, 409, 201, 109 rw 34 & 37. Apart from this, other sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 have also been imposed.

Non-bailable offense

The notice handed to Naidu by CID Deputy Superintendent of Police M Dhanunjudu said this is a non-bailable offence. He cannot be released on bail. Naidu can seek bail only through the court.
