CSK vs KKR: Chennai Super Kings have made a tremendous comeback after losing two matches. In the 22nd match of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets. Tushar Deshpande also took 3 wickets. In batting, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored unbeaten 67 runs in 58 balls. Shivam Dubey scored 28 runs in 18 balls, Darrell Mitchell scored 25 runs.

Kolkata's first defeat

Kolkata Knight Riders were dominating the points table by winning 3 consecutive matches but Chennai Super Kings gave them their first defeat in the tournament. Batting first, Kolkata team could not score a big score. Phil Salt was dismissed on the first ball. Sunil Narine scored 27 runs and Angkrish Raghuvanshi scored 24 runs to help Kolkata, but both these players fell victim to Jadeja in the same over, after which Kolkata's condition worsened. Venkatesh Iyer could score 3, Ramandeep Singh could score 13 runs. Rinku Singh's bat did not work and he could score only 9 runs in 14 balls. Andre Russell also scored only 10 runs in 10 balls.

The pitch played a big role

Chepauk's pitch was also a major reason for Kolkata's defeat. Chennai captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to field first. In the first innings, the ball was getting stuck on the pitch, of which Chennai bowlers took advantage. As a result, KKR's stroke players could not play freely. Kolkata also made a lot of mistakes in its batting order. Andre Russell came to the crease when only 20 balls were left and hence he did not get time to settle on the pitch.

No impact on marks table

Even though Kolkata team lost the match, it did not suffer any loss in the points table. Kolkata team is at second position with 3 wins in 4 matches. Whereas Chennai registered its third win in 5 matches and is in fourth place. Rajasthan is at first place with 4 wins in 4 matches and Lucknow is at third place with 3 wins in 4 matches.
