DA Hike News: There is good news for lakhs of central government employees. A 4 percent increase in DA has been approved by the Modi government in the cabinet meeting. This DA increase will be effective from January 1, 2024 and will directly benefit the Center and existing employees and pensioners. After this increase, the total DA of central employees has increased to 50 percent, which was earlier 46 percent. This increase is as per the approved formula based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission. The last increase in DA was made by the government in October 2023. Even at that time, DA was increased by only 4 percent by the government.

It was told by Union Minister Piyush Goyal that the increase in DA by 4 percent will put a burden of Rs 12,868 crore on the government. Along with DA, DR has also been increased by the government at the same rate. DA is given to the currently employed employee. Whereas, DR is given to pensioners.

How much will the salary increase

The effect of this increase in DA made by the government will be directly visible in the salaries of the employees. If someone's employee's salary is Rs 50,000 and the basic salary in it is Rs 15,000. So at present he would be getting 46 percent of it i.e. Rs 6,900 DA. At the same time, after this increase it has now become Rs 7,500. That means the salary of an employee with a salary of Rs 50,000 will increase by Rs 600.

DA is increased on the basis of inflation

The government takes the decision to increase DA based on the inflation rate of the country. The DA and DR increase is determined by the percentage increase in the 12-month average of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) for the financial year. DA and DR are increased twice a year.
