He is undergoing eight weeks of rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. The 15th season of IPL will start from March 26. The Chennai team wants Chahar to join the team's camp in Surat in the next few weeks.

Four teams had bid for Deepak Chahar during the IPL auction held in Bengaluru last month. The fight was first seen between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Hyderabad had set itself apart by bidding for 10.50 crores. At the same time, Delhi made a bid of 10.75 crores. This was followed by the entry of Rajasthan Royals. He had distanced himself by making a bid of 13.75 crores. Chennai finally bought them by bidding the highest of 14 crores.
