IPL 2021 / Harshals brilliant hat-trick helped Bangalore beat Mumbai by 55 runs

In IPL Phase-2, the second match of the day is being played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI). The match started with Mumbai winning the toss and fielding first and RCB batting first scored 165/6. Chasing the target of 166 runs, MI could only manage 111 runs and lost the match by 54 runs.

Harshal hat-trick

In the match, RCB's young fast bowler Harshal Patel took 3 wickets in 3 balls while bowling brilliantly in the 17th over. Patel completed his hat-trick by dismissing Hardik Pandya (3), Kieron Pollard (7) and Rahul Chahar (0). Harshal Patel was the third hat-trick for RCB and the 20th hat-trick in IPL history.

3 shocks to Mumbai after a good start

Chasing the target, MI started well and Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock added 57 runs for the first wicket. Yuzvendra Chahal did the work of breaking this partnership by dismissing de Kock (24). This was the 5th time in T20 format when Quinton de Kock's wicket came in Chahal's account. After de Kock's wicket, Glenn Maxwell gave a big breakthrough to RCB by dismissing Rohit Sharma (43). After this, in the very next over, Chahal caused the third loss to Mumbai by taking the wicket of Ishan Kishan (9).

Mumbai got the fourth blow in the form of Krunal Pandya (5) and his wicket came in Maxwell's account. Mumbai were expecting a big innings from Suryakumar Yadav in today's match, but once again he disappointed and returned to the dressing room after scoring just (8) runs.

RCB could have scored big

RCB got off to a strong start in the match. The team's score was 119/2 till 15 overs. But after that the team lost the wickets of Kohli-Maxwell and de Villiers inside the last 30 balls. In the last two overs, Bengaluru could only add 9 runs.

Bumrah's double dhamaal

Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly, taking the wickets of Glenn Maxwell (56) and AB de Villiers (11) in two consecutive balls. Both these wickets were taken by Bumrah in the 19th over and broke the back of RCB. Before being dismissed, Maxwell scored 56 runs in 37 balls.

Padikkal out for zero

RCB had a poor start and in the very second over, Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed for zero and returned to the pavilion. His wicket came in the account of Jasprit Bumrah. After Padikkal's wicket, Kohli and Sreekar Bharat added 68 runs for the second wicket. The wicket of Shrikar Bharat (32), who was batting brilliantly, came in the account of Rahul Chahar.

Virat Kohli's Achievement

Virat Kohli has completed his 10,000 runs in T20 cricket. Kohli made this historic record by hitting a six off Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli became the first Indian and fifth player in the world to make this record. Before Virat, the names of Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik and David Warner come.

Virat Kohli batted brilliantly and was dismissed for 42 balls (51) runs. This was the second consecutive half-century of RCB captain in Phase-2 and 42nd half-century in IPL. Kohli's wicket came in the account of Adam Milne.

Hardik Pandya is back

Mumbai all-rounder Hardik Pandya missed the first two matches of Phase II due to injury. But today he got a comeback in the playing XI. However, he did not get a chance to bowl in a single over.
