India / Heroin worth ₹135 cr seized by BSF in J&K's Kathua, smuggler killed

Jammu: While thwarting another big conspiracy of Pakistan, Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down a Pakistani smuggler on border in Jammu, and recovered 27 packets of heroin worth Rs 135 crore from the smuggler. The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district, Jammu. 

A statement issued by the BSF in Jammu said that BSF personnel deployed along the border foiled a major smuggling attempt by Pakistan and not only killed a Pakistani smuggler but also recovered 27 packets of heroin.

In its statement, the BSF has said that till Wednesday, the troops deployed along the border saw movement near the international border. As soon as these smugglers from Pakistan entered the Indian border, the Indian soldiers warned them repeatedly and eventually, opened fire at them, killing one. 

When the BSF personnel searched the area on the Indo-Pakistan border, they found 27 packets of heroin. The value of this consignment of heroin recovered by BSF is believed to be around Rs 135 crores in the international market. 

BSP said that such movements on the border are not possible without the support of our counterparts (Pakistan Rangers).
