The Delhi High Court on Monday, while hearing the case of riots in North East Delhi in the year 2020, has issued notices to many big leaders and asked them to present their side.

These leaders include Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and others. The court has asked them to make them parties in the FIR regarding inflammatory speeches against all of them and to clarify their stand regarding the action to be taken against them.

A bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Anoop Kumar Mendiratta, while hearing the petitions related to the riots in 2020, has sent notices to those against whom action was sought in the petition. One of the petitions has been filed by Sheikh Mujtaba Farooq, in which he has demanded that an FIR be registered against BJP leaders Anurag Thakur, Kapil Mishra, Parvesh Verma and Abhay Verma for hate speech.
