History of World Hindi Day

The purpose of celebrating World Hindi Day is the promotion of Hindi language. Let us inform that on January 10, 1975, the first Hindi conference was organized in Nagpur, Maharashtra. During that time, 122 delegates from 30 countries participated in the conference. After this, in the year 2006, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh announced to celebrate World Hindi Day every year on 10 January.

When is National Hindi Day celebrated?

On 14 September 1946, all the members of the Constituent Assembly unanimously recognized the Hindi language written in Devanagari script as the official language of the country. After this, the then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had announced to celebrate Hindi Day on 14 September in the Parliament. Let us tell you that on September 14, 1953, National Hindi Day was officially celebrated for the first time.

Hindi in foreign countries too

Hindi language is used by more than 600 million people worldwide. This is the reason why Hindi is the third most spoken language in the world after English and Mandarin (Chinese language).
