Citizenship Amendment Act: Notification has been issued to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act i.e. CAA in India. Since then it has been implemented across the country. While the opposition is protesting against CAA, now America has also reacted on it. The US on Thursday said it is concerned about the notification of CAA in India and is closely monitoring its implementation. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said this while answering the questions of reporters in his daily briefing.

Matthew Miller, in response to a question asked during the press briefing, said that America is keeping an eye on how this Act will be implemented. He has said that respect for religious freedom and equal treatment under law for all communities are fundamental democratic principles. The statement of US President Joe Biden administration has also come at a time when Hindu American groups have welcomed the implementation of CAA in India.

Pakistan called CAA discriminatory

Before America, Pakistan has also given a statement regarding CAA. Pakistan has termed the law as discriminatory. Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that this law discriminates between people on the basis of their faith. He alleged that the CAA laws are based on the wrong belief that minorities are being oppressed in Muslim countries of India.

Indian government said it has nothing to do with Muslims

The Government of India implemented the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 on March 11 this week. Due to which non-Muslim immigrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014 will get citizenship. Amid growing protests over the law, the government issued a press statement saying that Indian Muslims need not worry as the CAA will not affect their citizenship. It has nothing to do with that community. The Indian government says that CAA is about giving citizenship and no citizen of the country will lose their citizenship due to this.
