Poisonous liquor has created an orgy of death in West Chancharan of Bihar. So far 16 people have died due to drinking spurious liquor, while 4 people have lost their eyesight. Police is investigating in this matter. Let us tell you that the government has banned the consumption and production of liquor in Bihar. But there have been constant allegations of black marketing of liquor in the state.

Among those who lost their eyesight is 40-year-old Mohammad Izhar, resident of Deurwa village under Lauria police station. Izhar says that earlier this week he had consumed alcohol at a brewery outside the village. After which his health deteriorated a lot and then his eyesight also kept on going.

Mohammad Izhar said, "I drank alcohol after which my health deteriorated and then my eyesight lost. Before drinking alcohol I could see everything but now I can't see anything."

Like Izhar, 50-year-old Sukhal Mian, a resident of Manguraha village under Ramnagar police station in West Champaran, has lost his eyesight. He too had consumed alcohol at the village's liquor distillery, after which he lost his eyesight.

Sukhal Mian said that, "I work as a laborer in the village and went to drink alcohol that day, after which my health deteriorated and now I cannot see anything with my eyes."

In fact, in the beginning of this week, 16 people have died and 4 people have lost their eyesight due to allegedly drinking illicit liquor in about half a dozen villages under Lauria police station and Ramnagar police station.

The bodies of those who died in the West Champaran liquor incident were either buried or cremated by their relatives in a hurry.

Taking advantage of this, the local administration tried to suppress this whole matter and tried to prove that 16 people died due to suspicious and many died due to disease.

Whereas the relatives of the deceased have accepted that all those who died in this case were due to the consumption of illicit liquor.

Saiful Nisha, wife of Mohammad Zulfan, who lost his life in the West Champaran liquor incident, told how her husband's condition deteriorated after drinking alcohol and then he died in no time.

Saiful Nisha said, "The day my husband came after drinking alcohol, his health deteriorated and then he died. There is a lot of illegal liquor business in this area but there is no one to stop."

Out of the 16 people who died in this incident, the families of 12 people have given in writing to the administration that all died due to consumption of alcohol.

West Champaran range DIG Lalan Mohan Prasad said, "So far 16 people have been arrested in the liquor scandal and 12 family members of the deceased have told that all died due to alcohol consumption. Police is investigating at this point." Search is on for the main accused also.

After catching the whole matter, the West Champaran administration swung into action and in a hurry, 16 people including thug Saha, who was involved in illegal liquor business, have been arrested so far.

In a hurry, the Police Headquarters has taken action in this matter and all the policemen including the in-charge of Lauria police station have been put on line.

Mohammad Javed, former head of Tellpur Panchayat, has alleged that illegal liquor business is flourishing in many villages under Lauria police station and Ramnagar police station and there is nexus with the liquor mafia of police and administration.

He said that how is the liquor mafia active in the area without the connivance of the police? Illegal liquor business is going on in this area for a long time and information was also given to the police about it, but despite this, no action was taken from the police side.
