Coronavirus / India reports lowest daily COVID-19 cases in 209 days at 18,346; 263 deaths

New Delhi: India recorded 18,346 new cases of the novel coronavirus, the lowest in 209 days along with 263 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, the country saw a total of 29,639 recoveries in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 97.89 per cent and total recoveries to 3,31,50,886.

The total active cases of COVID-19 in India dipped down to 2,52,902, the lowest In 201 days, the health ministry data showed. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently, at 0.75%, lowest since March 2020. In India, the first death due to the COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020. The death toll now stands at 4,49,260.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 57,53,94,042 samples have been tested up to October 4th for COVID-19. Of these 11,41,642 samples were tested on Monday.

As of Tuesday, more than 91.77 crore (91,77,37,885) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category. More than 6.73 Cr (6,73,07,240) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.
