India won its seventh consecutive match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and became the first team to make it to the semi-finals. Batting first after losing the toe, India scored 357 runs. Kohli completed his 70th fifty and Gill completed his 11th fifty of his ODI career. There was a partnership of 189 runs on 179 balls between these two for the second wicket. This partnership was broken by Dilshan Madushanka on the last ball of the 30th over by getting Gill caught by wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis on a slower bouncer.

In the 20 overs between 11th and 30th overs, the Indian team scored 133 runs losing one wicket. After 30 overs, Team India's score was 193/2.
