Omicron Variant : Amidst the increasing cases of Omicron, the daily cases of corona in the country have also gained momentum and within the last 48 hours, this figure has doubled in many states. At the same time, in the last 24 hours, a record 13 thousand new cases of corona have been reported across the country, which is the highest in the last 7 weeks.

According to the data gathered by Hindustan Times, Maharashtra is the largest contributor to the total daily cases, where 3900 new cases of corona have been reported in a day. At the same time, after this 2846 cases have come in Kerala, 1089 in West Bengal and 923 in Delhi. According to the data, a total of 12 thousand 987 new cases were registered in India on Wednesday, which is the highest figure since November 10, when 13 thousand 148 cases were reported in the country.

At the same time, on Tuesday, the daily cases of corona were 9 thousand 155 and on Monday only 6 thousand 1399 cases.

It is believed that the Omicron variant is behind this rapid increase in corona cases. On Wednesday, the number of cases of the Omicron variant in the country has also increased to 946. Out of these, 161 cases have come in the last 24 hours. At the same time, a total of 241 of those infected with the Omicron variant have been cured so far.

Cases more than doubled in Maharashtra

In Maharashtra, which has been badly hit by Corona, new cases of infection have increased by 79 percent within a day. At the same time, cases of infection have increased by 83 percent in Mumbai alone. There were 1333 cases of corona in Mumbai on Tuesday, which increased to 2445 on Wednesday. On Wednesday, 85 cases of Omicron were reported in the state, after which Maharashtra now has 252 cases of the new variant. The positivity rate has gone up to 3.16 percent in Maharashtra while 4.71 percent in Mumbai. At the same time, the positivity rate was less than 1 percent in both the places last week.
