Israeli policemen entered the sensitive religious site 'Al-Aqsa' in Jerusalem after Palestinian youths pelted stones. Israeli policemen stationed at the entrance were pelted with stones. Violence broke out again after Israel imposed a temporary ban on the arrival of Jews at the site.

Explain that the people of Palestine see the visit of the Jews as a provocation. This place is a holy shrine for both Jews and Muslims. According to medical officials, more than 24 Palestinians were injured in the clash that lasted for a few hours. There were several clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police here last week.

Before that, there had been attacks in Israel and arrests were made in the West Bank. Three rockets have been fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip, controlled by the rebel group Hamas. Two eyewitnesses said Israeli policemen entered the compound and fired rubber bullets and 'stun grenades'. Meanwhile, some Palestinians urged the youth to stop stone pelting, which was ignored.

Stones collected before sunrise

Israeli police said some Palestinians carrying Hamas flags began collecting stones before sunrise. After the stone-pelting started, they waited till the morning prayers were over before entering the premises, police said.

Firecrackers hurled by Palestinians also caught fire in a tree near the entrance. The Palestinian Red Crescent Medical Service said 31 Palestinians were injured, 14 of whom were taken to hospital.
