Jaipur Road Accident: Speeding SUV Hits Elderly Scooter Rider, Victim Dragged 50 Meters

The Malviya Nagar police station area in Jaipur witnessed a horrific road accident on Friday, where the lethal combination of high speed and negligence claimed the life of an elderly man. According to the reports provided by the local authorities, a speeding SUV collided with a scooter rider near the Saras Pulia area, leading to a fatal outcome. The victim, identified as 62 year old Chhaju Singh, was a resident of Jhalana Dungri and was originally from Dausa. The incident has once again raised concerns regarding road safety and the lack of speed control in the capital city.

Details of the Tragic Collision

The accident occurred when Chhaju Singh was traveling on his scooter. A blue colored SUV, which was reportedly being driven at an extremely high speed, struck the scooter with immense force. The impact of the collision was so powerful that the elderly man was thrown off his vehicle and landed on the hard asphalt of the road. Witnesses and police reports indicate that the victim didn't just fall but was dragged along the road for a distance of approximately 50 meters. This dragging caused severe and multiple injuries across his body, leading to a critical condition immediately after the crash.

The Aftermath and Driver's Escape

Following the initial collision with the scooter, the SUV became uncontrollable. The driver, unable to regain command of the vehicle, crashed into a roadside pole. The force of this secondary impact was enough to break the pole entirely. Despite the severity of the accident and the damage caused to both the SUV and the scooter, the driver of the SUV managed to flee the scene before the police or bystanders could intervene. The vehicle was left behind at the site of the accident, which has since been seized by the Malviya Nagar police for further forensic and legal examination.

Victim's Background and Purpose of Travel

Chhaju Singh, the deceased, was working as a guard in a local hostel in Jaipur. He had been living in the Jhalana Dungri area to sustain his livelihood. On the day of the accident, Friday, he was suffering from a common cold and cough. Seeking medical relief, he had set out on his scooter to visit a nearby hospital to purchase medicine, while it was during this routine trip for healthcare that he encountered the speeding SUV near Saras Pulia, leading to the unfortunate tragedy that ended his life.

Medical Intervention and Police Investigation

Upon receiving information about the accident, the Malviya Nagar police reached the spot and immediately arranged for the injured Chhaju Singh to be transported to the Trauma Center of the SMS Hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical team at the trauma center, the injuries sustained by the 62 year old were too severe. He passed away during the course of his treatment. Station House Officer (SHO) Gaurav Pradhan stated that the police have officially registered a case on Saturday and have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter. The police are currently using the registration number of the seized SUV to identify the owner and the driver who was behind the wheel at the time of the incident. Also, the authorities are scanning CCTV footage from cameras installed around the Saras Pulia area to reconstruct the sequence of events and track the escape route of the driver.
