Delhi / Kejriwal's claim - will complete the target of providing 20 lakh jobs in five years, instructions to ministers and departments

The Delhi government has started gearing up to get the employment budget off the ground. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday directed all the ministers and officers of all departments to work seriously within the target and time frame to make the announcements made in the employment budget into reality. In this regard, he held a high level review meeting with ministers and senior officials.

Kejriwal said that in this budget, a target has been set to create 20 lakh jobs in the next five years. Such work is being done for the first time in the country. In fact, the biggest challenge facing the country today is that of employment. After the presentation of the budget of the Delhi government, the whole country is looking towards it in the same way as the system of education, health, electricity and water is being looked towards Delhi. The Delhi government will also give a solution for such employment.

In the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has directed all the heads of departments to ensure speedy processing of files and decision making in their departments within the time limit. Presenting the employment budget in the Vidhan Sabha on March 26, he presented a blueprint to provide 20 lakh jobs to the youth in the next five years. The meeting was attended by all the concerned officers with their progress reports and apprised them about the employment generating areas. Health Minister Satyendar Jain, Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot, Environment Minister Gopal Rai, Chief Secretary and senior officials of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.

Marked multiple sectors

The Delhi government has identified several sectors to generate 20 lakh new jobs and has started work on it expeditiously. These sectors include Retail Sector, Food and Breweries Sector, Logistics and Supply Chain, Travel and Tourism, Entertainment, Construction, Real Estate, Green Energy Sector etc.

Planning to make shopping and food hub

Grade A Retail and Food Space Scheme will be introduced to make Delhi an experiential shopping and food hub. The Transport Department will launch this scheme to meet the demand of malls and high quality food. Under the Grade A Retail and Food Space scheme, the existing bus depot land will be used to set up a world-class food and retail hub with a potential to generate 50,000 jobs. Delhi government will also bring food truck policy in the coming days. Through this, the Department of Tourism will work on promoting business opportunities for restaurants and cafes in Delhi, increasing the size of the market, promoting delicious food and unique food concepts. This is likely to create 1,500 new jobs. There is also a plan to bring a cloud kitchen policy of the Delhi government. It will be headed by DSIIDC and Department of Industry. In this policy only delivery kitchens will be set up. Under this, 30 thousand jobs can be given.

Famous Five Market to be redeveloped

Five famous markets of Delhi have been identified. These markets will be completely redeveloped, which will increase business there in a big way. There will also be a Delhi Shopping Festival with attractive schemes on sale, entertainment and food and huge discounts offered to shoppers. Delhi government will enable exemption through SGST refund. The shopping festival has the potential to create 1.2 lakh jobs in five years. Apart from this, Delhi will be made whole sale market again as before and Delhi Whole Sale Festival will also be organized.

Plan to make Gandhinagar Grand Garment Hub

Gandhi Nagar has been the hub of garments. Now it will be made Grand Garment Hub. The government plans to redevelop and promote both the manufacturing units and the retail market in Gandhi Nagar. Its objective is to develop more than 8.25 lakh employment opportunities in the Department of Industries and DSIIDC related to retail, wholesale trade and manufacturing. Along with this, 10 thousand manufacturing units will be developed. This will create 43 thousand new jobs in five years.

job market 2.0 will be launched

The Delhi government had launched the employment market portal during Kovid. After its success, the government will now launch Employment Market 2.0, which will be operated by the Department of Employment and DSEU of Delhi Government. Its objective is to connect job seekers and job seekers in Delhi on one platform.

Green Employment through Solar Policy

Delhi government will also generate green jobs through solar policy. In the next five years, 10,000 jobs will be created by setting up 2500 MW (peak) solar power plants. In the Smart Urban Farming initiative, 25,000 jobs will be created in five years. Under the Electric Vehicle Policy, 25,000 jobs will be created in the next five years by developing charging infrastructure across Delhi.

Non-conforming notified industrial areas will be redeveloped

The Industries Department will redevelop the non-conforming notified industrial areas. More than 15.55 lakh job opportunities will increase here in a big way. In the next five years, more than six lakh employment opportunities will be created. The Industries Department of the Delhi government will oversee the Electronic City project. Through this, investment in 'Green Clean Sustainable' industries will be encouraged in future. This will facilitate MSME event makers to cluster around the anchor units and generate employment opportunities. 85 thousand jobs will be created in this sector. The 'Delhi Startup Policy' will be supervised by the Industries Department and DSIIDC. Under the Delhi Startup Policy, the government aims to make Delhi a startup hub by developing a unique startup policy that has the potential to create nine lakh jobs in five years.

Delhi film policy will also be made

Delhi government is formulating Delhi Film Policy and Delhi International Film Festival will be organized. For film shooting in Delhi, you will not have to travel to different departments. To provide convenience to the people, the government will create a single window and organize an international film festival to make Delhi a film destination. It also has the potential to create a lot of jobs.

Re-branded as 'The City of Business'

The Delhi government will use the waste and barren land in the existing industrial areas for various economic activities and alternative things in the industrial areas. Employment opportunities will be created for the people due to industrial activities and manufacturing. Through this, the Delhi government will re-brand and replace Delhi as 'The City of Business'.
