Nipah Virus / Kerala reports another case of Nipah from Kozhikode

Kerala recorded another case of Nipah virus on Monday in Kozhikode, says reports mentioning Kozhikode district collector GS Sameera. Earlier on Sunday, the state said that healthcare employees confirmed signs and symptoms of the virus and a 12-year-old boy died because of Nipah.


Kerala health minister Veena George earlier stated that there had been a probability that the 12-year-old boy who succumbed to Nipah could have come in touch with a larger number of people. She additionally stated that samples of seven high-risk contacts had been despatched to Pune’s National Institute of Virology for testing.


“The most critical job is to reinforce touch tracing. We are giving special training to our field employees. It is similarly critical to locate the supply of infection. She similarly added that 188 contacts had been traced on Sunday and stated that there are possibilities that there may be more contacts.
