Auto / Kia Motors advises customers to stay away from fraudulent websites for Seltos bookings

Kia Motors today confirmed that the official bookings for Seltos will start in July. The carmaker will inform the customers about the commencement of bookings as well. Unveiled in India on June 20, the compact SUV will be launched in the country in August.

The automobile company also advised the customers to stay away from fraudulent websites for booking Kia Seltos.

"Please be informed that Kia Motors India has not released any official communication around the booking process of the upcoming Kia Seltos. This is to bring to your notice that there are certain fraudulent websites claiming to be the official channel for the booking process - Kia Motors India advises customers to stay clear of such websites and wait for the official communication," the carmaker said in a communication.

"Kindly take a note, the bookings for Kia Seltos will start in July and customers will be duly notified of the process by Kia Motors India," it added.

It has been widely reported that Kia Seltos bookings have started unofficially, with several dealerships accepting an initial booking amount of Rs 25,000. The first promotional video of the compact SUV, featuring Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, is also out.

Kia Seltos will rival against Hyundai Creta, apart from other players like Tata Harrier, Renault Captur and MG Hector. It is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).

Powering Kia Seltos will be a BSVI (BS6) compliant 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol engine that makes 140 hp and 242 Nm of torque. Other options include a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel powertrain mill that delivers 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque. All the three engines will be offered with a standard 6-speed gearbox. So far as automatic options are concerned, the Turbo GDI powertrain will come with a 7-speed DCT, with the 1.5-litre petrol getting a CVT and the 1.5-litre diesel a 6-speed torque converter.
