Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the public has elected the MLAs with great expectations, the MLAs should live up to the trust of the public. MLAs and MPs are being limited to their constituencies. MLAs should raise issues and problems of the entire state. Politics has its place, but issues of state interest must be raised. MLAs should innovate in their fields and those innovations should also be discussed in the House. Birla was speaking at the training program for MLAs in the Assembly on Tuesday.

Birla said- Many of our great leaders maintained the traditions of this assembly. Many leaders including Mohanlal Sukhadia, Haridev Joshi, Bhairon Singh Shekhawat maintained the rich traditions. From time to time, he made new innovations here and worked to carry forward the glorious traditions of the Assembly.

In Rajasthan, even during the reign of kings, there were elected public representatives.

Lok Sabha Speaker said- When we look at the history of Rajasthan, we find that even during the rule of kings, there used to be democratic processes in Rajasthan. Even at that time there were elected representatives, who worked for the welfare of the state and gave suggestions. The democratic system has been a part of the working style in Rajasthan.

If you want to become a leader then debate the bills preparedly.

Birla said- If you want to become a leader then continuously participate in the debate on the bills passed in the Assembly. Sit continuously in the House. If you debate bills effectively, you will become a leader. We have seen that many senior leaders used to sit in the House the whole time. Leaders like Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Mohanlal Sukhadia, Rajendra Rathod, Gulabchand Kataria used to sit in the House all the time. If you talk logically while making laws, if you come prepared, then meaningful debate will be possible. If MLAs come prepared, it will only benefit the state.
