The three people whom the army shot considering them to be enemies were actually Israeli citizens. After this, the Army apologized to the families of the three deceased and admitted its mistake. Yotam Haim, who was abducted from Kibbutz Kfar Azza by the Hamas terrorist organization on October 7, during fighting in Shejaiya, the army reported. The second civilian, Samir Talalka, was abducted from Kibbutz Nir Am by the Hamas terrorist organization on October 7. Apart from this, the third civilian is Alon Shamriz, who was abducted from Kibbutz Kafr Azza by the Hamas terrorist organization on 7 October.

After this accident, the IDF immediately started reviewing the incident. The IDF emphasizes that this is an active war zone in which fighting has been ongoing for the past few days. A lesson has been learned from the incident and all necessary precautions will be taken to ensure that it does not happen again. In another statement, the Army said that we express our condolences to the families of the deceased. The statement further said that our objective is to locate the missing people and return all the hostages home.
