By the end of this year, Made in India, that is, chips made in India, made by the people of India, will come to the market." This announcement is an important step for India, as semiconductors are the basis of modern technology, which are used in sectors such as smartphones, computers, medical equipment, and automobiles.PM Modi said that the plan for semiconductor production was under consideration for the last 50-60 years, but it was stuck due to bureaucratic hurdles. "50 years ago, the file of semiconductors was buried, but now Made in India semiconductors will come to the market," he said. India has made solid progress in this direction. Six semiconductor units have already been set up, and four other units have been approved. Most of these units are focused on assembly and packaging, while two units are dedicated to fabrication.India's position in global competitionThe Prime Minister stressed that India is now in a position to compete with leading countries in semiconductor production and design like Taiwan, the US, China and South Korea. "India is investing thousands of crores of rupees under Mission Green, so that we not only become self-reliant, but also make our strong presence felt in the global market," he said.India's Semiconductor Mission, which operates under the Ministry of Information Technology, has so far announced the setting up of ten semiconductor units. This mission is working towards making India a global hub in the field of semiconductor production and export.Energy self-reliance and solar revolutionAlong with semiconductors, PM Modi also emphasized on energy self-reliance. He said that India is committed to reducing dependence on foreign countries for resources like petrol, diesel and gas. "Solar energy production has increased 30 times in the last 11 years.
